Lip Blush Tattoo
What is Lip Blush?
Lip Blush is a cosmetic tattoo that enhances the natural shape, color, and symmetry of your lips. This technique creates a soft tint that mimics the appearance of a tinted balm or natural lip flush.
Whether you’re looking to restore lost pigment, define your lip border, or create a fuller, more balanced shape, this treatment gives you a beautiful, effortless look with long-lasting results.

What to Expect
Getting your lips done at Blush & Blade is a personalized, luxury experience from start to finish. Here’s how it works:
Client Consultation
We’ll begin by discussing your natural lip tone, desired color, skin undertones, and overall goals. Whether you’re looking to restore pigment, enhance shape, or achieve a natural tint — we’ll guide you every step of the way.
Lip Mapping + Shape Approval
Your lips will be gently outlined and pre-drawn to enhance symmetry and define your natural lip line. You’ll have the chance to approve and tweak the shape before we begin.
Numbing + Tattooing
A topical numbing agent is applied to ensure maximum comfort. We then use gentle, layered techniques to implant pigment gradually — building soft, even color for a blushed, hydrated finish.
Healing + Aftercare
You’ll receive an aftercare kit & instructions and healing expectations. Light flaking and fading will occur, but this is totally normal — lips go through multiple healing stages and the final color reveals itself in about 6-8 weeks.
Perfecting Session
After 8-14 weeks, you’ll return for your touch-up appointment to perfect the shape, color, and retention. This ensures long-lasting, balanced results that feel effortless and naturally you.
are you a candidate for lip blush?
Lip Blush is a game-changing enhancement that softens lip tone, defines the shape, and gives your pout a natural, youthful glow. But to ensure optimal healing and results, it’s important to make sure it’s the right fit for you. Most people are great candidates, but those with active cold sores, certain medications, or lip fillers within 4 weeks may need to wait. A consultation is always recommended.
You’re likely a great candidate if you:
-
Desire more defined, even-toned lips without overlining
-
Have pale or uneven natural lip pigment
-
Are looking to restore youthful fullness and color
-
Are healthy, not pregnant or breastfeeding
-
Don’t have major scarring or skin conditions on or near the lips
🚫 You may NOT be a candidate if you:
-
Are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
-
Are prone to keloid scarring or cold sores (consultation required!)
-
Have had lip filler within the last 4 weeks
-
Are on blood thinners, Accutane, or undergoing chemotherapy
-
Have active skin infections, open wounds, or cold sores on the lips at time of appointment
-
Have uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or other health conditions that affect healing
Worried about cold sores?
If you’ve ever had a cold sore (even once), we strongly recommend a prescription antiviral (like Acyclovir or Valtrex) 3 days before and after your appointment to prevent a flare-up.
Still unsure?
Book a consultation — we’ll walk you through everything and make sure you’re set up for beautiful, lasting results with a personalized approach that fits your skin and lifestyle.
Your complimentary touch-up (8-14 weeks later) ensures your lips heal evenly and beautifully.
This is where we refine shape, depth, and color.
If you do not schedule your Touch-Up within the touch up time frame, additional costs may be required.
Touch Up (within 8-14 weeks): Included in price
Annual Touch Ups/Refreshers: $350
After 24 months - full price will be required.
The Touch Up rate is only on work created by artists, there will be a full price for work done by another artist.

Lip Blush Prep & Pre-Care
🔄 7 Days Before Your Appointment:
-
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Drink plenty of water daily — hydrated lips respond best to pigment.
-
Start gentle lip exfoliation 2–3x this week using a lip scrub (sugar + honey or store-bought) to slough off dry skin.
-
Apply a hydrating lip balm daily (look for ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, or lanolin).
-
Avoid long sun exposure or tanning on the face/lips.
-
No lip injections (filler or Botox) within 4 weeks before or after your appointment.
-
No chemical peels, microneedling, or laser facials around the mouth area within 2 weeks of your appointment.
🧼 2–3 Days Before:
-
Exfoliate lips once per day (use a soft toothbrush, washcloth, or scrub).
-
Apply Healing Balm multiple times daily to ensure lips are smooth and soft.
-
Avoid alcohol and salty foods — these can dry the lips out.
💊 Cold Sore Prevention (IMPORTANT):
-
If you have ever had a cold sore (even once), you MUST take antiviral medication for 3 days before and 4 days after your appointment.
-
Lip Blush can trigger a flare-up even if it’s been dormant — and this will affect your results.
-
Ask your doctor for a prescription or over-the-counter option.
🚫 The Day Before:
-
Avoid spicy foods, excessive caffeine, or alcohol.
-
Don’t use any harsh lip plumpers or stimulating products.
-
Make sure your lips are moisturized overnight — sleep with Aquaphor or a thick lip balm on.
✅ Day of Appointment:
-
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips.
-
Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water before you arrive.
-
Don’t take aspirin, ibuprofen, or any blood thinners unless prescribed.
-
Relax — we’ll go over shape, color, and all aftercare at your appointment

Lip Blush Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing, retention, and beautiful long-term results.
An Aftercare Kit will be provided for you after your service to take care of your lips
🚫 First 24 Hours (Day of Procedure):
-
Immediately following the procedure, lips will feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch. They may appear swollen and bright in color.
-
For 4 hours after treatment, apply light pressure on lips with a clean tissue, to remove any lymph. After 4 hours, start applying ointment (Healing Balm) as needed to keep lips constantly moist. No kissing, rubbing or friction on the treatment area.
-
Blot lips gently with a clean tissue or cotton pad every 30–60 minutes to absorb lymph fluid and prevent scabbing.
-
Avoid touching your lips unnecessarily and keep them clean and dry.
-
No kissing, spicy foods, or contact with dirty surfaces (including fingers or phones!).
💧 Days 2–10:
-
Apply a thin layer of PMU-approved healing balm 2–4x a day using clean hands or a cotton swab.
-
Lips will flake/peel — do NOT pick, scratch, or rub!
-
Keep lips moisturized, but not over-saturated or wet.
-
Drink through a straw to minimize moisture on lips.
-
Avoid: spicy foods, citrus, alcohol, very salty foods, or hot beverages.
-
Gently cleanse around the mouth area; avoid getting water directly on the lips for long periods (no submerging or steamy showers).
❌ Avoid for 10 Days:
-
No lip makeup, gloss, or tinted balms.
-
No kissing or oral activity.
-
No saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, swimming, or heavy sweating.
-
No exfoliating or using harsh products around the lips.
-
No sun exposure or tanning.
⚠️ Healing Timeline (What to Expect):
-
Days 1–2: Lips look vibrant and bold in color.
-
Days 3–5: Peeling begins. Color looks patchy or faded.
-
Days 6–10: Peeling stops. Color looks lighter (this is normal!).
-
Weeks 2–6: Pigment settles and slowly resurfaces — true results appear after full healing.
💉 Touch-Up Appointment:
-
A second session is recommended 8-14 weeks after your first visit to refine shape, color, and retention.
-
Book your perfecting session during your initial healing window to ensure best results.
